Efe Aksan ran the Salomon Cappadocia 60k this morning CRUSHING his goal time. We talked about how running under 9 hours on this course would be great, then he counters with saying running sub 8:30 would be "cool"..well guess what..He ran 8:26!! So proud of you Efe especially with all you have gone through over the past 6 months! Follow Efe on Instagram and check out some of his awesome pictures he posted during the race!

Congrats Efe, Chris and Camille. Great job on giving the races your best!!
The Day Finished off with one last incredible Result!! Samantha Cotton Killed it at the Palo Duro Trail 50 miler! With a little bit of a struggle in the middle part of the race she rallied and came back to negative split the last 15 miles!! Who does that in a 50 mile race??? Way to go Sam!
Look how fun running can be when you are crushing 50 mile races!
Another incredible day for MDRC!
Stephen Horaj places 2nd OVERALL in the Ghost train 100 trail Half Marathon!!!! Super impressive as he will be going after his BQ in a couple of weeks at New York Marathon.

Joe Miller evidently does nothing but WIN races!! Once again Joe takes first in his 10 mile trail race in a time of 1 hr 13 min...Crazy impressive performance considering we trained right through this one! Good job Joe!!
Last but not Least: Felix Moisel Destroys it at the Roentgenlauf 63KM . Felix and I have been working together since May and in that short period of time he has made some of the most unbelievable improvements! This morning he placed 15th overall and 3rd in his Age group in one EPIC race!! While thats impressive here is the cool part...He PRed in the Marathon by 10 min after already being 2/3rds into the race!!! Congratulations Felix!

Paul Booth trained right through the week with no taper or rest and still OWNS it at his race. This one was unique as it was a Navigation race where you have to find your own way to the finish! he completed about 20k wth 1200m of climbing!! great job
I feel like it's been every week i've posted about Stephen Horaj. This week is no different as he took on the NY marathon! Stephen ran so strong and gutted out a finish managing many problems after 15 miles..Some times this is how the cookie crumbles and when you race as much and as well as he has recently they can't all be good! Looking forward to seeing what he can do on the trails!
THE POWER DUO of Angie and Andrew Woolman took on the Rio Del Lago 100 miler this weekend. They both finished with some AMAZING results!! Andrew completed the 100 in 26 hr 57 min!! While Angie finished in an unbelievable 28 hr 48 min!! I couldn't be more proud of you two and all the hard work you put in for this!!
Sally Miller Ran the Gettysburg Battlefield Half Marathon this morning...It went down as the lead cyclist took a wrong turn and lead to everyone running 2 miles short! What does Sally do? Continue on to complete a full half marathon! Here is the best part ...She ran a Personal Best by 22 MINUTES!!!! congratulations Sally!
Matthew Brennan Raced a 52K trail event in Laos. The race turned out to be Epic as much of it was navigating through the forest during the night! Matthew Places 8th! What an incredible job!
Please let me know if i missed anyone!
Awesome to see the fantastic results, great job everyone!!
So many awesome performances this weekend!!
@smiller6run Sally Miller Raced for the 2nd week in a row! This time another half marathon in Athens Ohio on the Bobcat trail. We did a lot of running in training but I think for this one we should have probably done more swimming! From the pictures it looked as if she was running through a muddy river! Long story short is she once again crushed it and had an awesome time playing in the mud!
Amanda Lewis Evans ran in the Lake Norman trail run 18 miler. This was her first trail race and she did so amazing. Making the transition from road to trail can be daunting but she raced like she has been doing it for years! Way to go Amanda.
Sean Patton Raced the OBX Marathon yesterday morning Running a time of 3:43:09!!! Is anyone familiar with this course? You get road, dirt, sand, trail, and I whole lot of wind coming off the coast. He ran an amazingly strong race!! Great work Sean!
@mreed0712 Megan Reed Crushed it yet again! This time at the historic Franklin Mountain Race in Texas (yes texas has some gnarly mountains) With 8,000 ft of elevation gain, technical 50k(actually 34 miles) trail running, and a nasty fall at 2 miles, Megan was able to place 5th!! She is solidifying herself as one of the nations top Mountain runners. I CAN NOT wait to see what next year has to offer as she already has some HUGE goals!
@Chris Martin Ran in the Upton State Forest trail Half Marathon. Much like Sally's race it would have been good to do a little swimming before this one. Most of the course was flooded with shin deep water and mud! But that didn't Stop Chris from running an unbelievable Race!! He finished in 2:04:00 which is incredible on this course!! For a guy who has only been training since late June I am beyond impressed and So stoked to see what the future holds! Awesome job!!
Mark Bottenhorn Competed a little out of his confort zone this weekend in a 6hr Obstacle Course race! (this guy can do anything) He Crushed it and most importantly came away injury free and ready to get rolling with training for another 50k this coming year, hoping to improve on his 3:30:00 PR!! All of this strength training is going to do wonders for your upcoming ultra season Mark!
@n8 Nate McBride had an UNBELIEVABLE race at the Monson half Marathon! This course was challenging and had it been flat only God knows how fast he could have gone. Nate improved on his time from last year by 7 minutes!! He ran 1:31:40! All of the consistent work he has put in over the summer is paying off! Way to go Nate!
@kfitzpatrick723 Sometimes it's the small victories that make me the happiest coach. Keely Fitzpatrick has been out with injury for a pretty long time. During that time she has put in SO Much work cross training and staying fit. Sunday she ran for the first time in a local 5k! While it was small steps and far from what she is capable of doing she was able to run/walk for the first time in months! The comeback has begun Keely and everyone should be ready for it!!
Thanks, Matt!! Way to go everyone! Lots to be thankful for!
RACE RESULT ALERT!
The weekend start off with @kfitzpatrick723 (Keely Fitzpatrick) Once again using a race to climb back to fitness. She ran the Philly 8k finishing in 51:17!! Here is the kicker she ran this fast with instructions to do it by running 5 min walking 1 min for the whole way! The sky is the limit with Keely once she returns to full fitness!
@jtanium (Jason Edwards) raced the Dead Horse 50 miler in the desert of Moab, Utah. With an ankle injury that popped up around 20 miles Jason was STILL able to blitz 50 miles in under 10 hours!! For those of you that follow Jason on strava you will see how much Vert he can run. Jason is a mountain goat and I think his future lies in some awesome mountain ultras for 2019!
Paul Booth From the other side of the pound ran in the Escape from Meriden run. This event is crazy as you see how far from Meriden you can get in 24 hours...the person or group that goes the furthest wins! Paul used this as a training run. He ran it easy with his partner and completed 120K in 16 hours before calling it a day! I know this wasnt a "Race" for you Paul but none-the-less still an amazing performance!
For one of the first times since I've been coaching I was left speechless after reading Ruth Dickinson's training log this evening. I just started working with Ruth last week and am SO excited with the opportunity to see her progress. Ruth worked the Expo this weekend at the philly marathon and decided last minute to Run the race!..now not a big deal...but...Ruth just started running and training. Well...I think you guys know where this is going. Ruth ran a 3:47!!!!! my mind is blown...especially after this comment "I just kept it easy and enjoyed the crowds". Ruth you are awesome and I can't be upset by this. At the end of the day running is all about having fun and it's evident that's what you did!
So inspired by everyone's performances!
MDRC had a MEGA weekend!
Yesterday started off with @Mandy Baker Running the McDowell Mountain frenzy 25K. Mandy has has quite the last few weeks dealing with a few injuries that came up. But being the BOSS that she is, she went out there and CRUSHED it in a little over 3 hours...AN AMAZING performance for this tough course!
@nick f (Nicholas Forde) Ran the Lantau 25k Sky race in china! Just a month after running the 70k he decided to show up and CRUSH IT! Nick battled off and on most of the race but came through finishing 3 minutes faster than he did last year! Way to go!!
Today we celebrate a DQ! not because @Joe Miller was DQ'ed for taking a wrong turn but because before he took that wrong turn he was CRUSHING it in his trail marathon. avg under 7 min miles and way ahead of the competition Joe missed his turn and ended up finishing the race 3 miles short. Thats ok though because He is fit and ready to rock 2019!!
Last but not least we have the CIM crew!!!
@Ehrik Aldana Runs 3:12:27! Ehrik has been through so much this training cycle as he was focusing on taking the LSAT and then having to deal with the training in the smoke from the wildfires leading up to the race. Even though this result isn't exactly what he wanted He has set himself up for a sub 3 hr marathon in the near future!!
@bowyer.gregory Runs 2:48:49! I think this was a big PR for Greg!! His training has been amazing and couldn't be more proud as he has had to battle training int he smoke of the wild fires the last few weeks as well. 2019 is going to be insane road or trails for this guy as he is just scratching the surface!!
@whitney.heavner runs 3:02:46 for a HUGE PR!! Whitney's training has been unreal for this marathon, but just 5 days ago I was a little worried weather or not she was going to be running! She got some SI joint stuff going in right after her last big workout and long run but was able to rehab it take a little rest and absolutely Rock and Roll this marathon! Sub 3 in the NEAR future for this super woman!
@andrea (Andrea Soderin) runs 3:35:34 for a PR!! Andrea's training for CIM could not have gone any better! Just a few seconds away from a BQ I am confident that her next go around she is going to see 5-6 minutes off her current time! Amazing job Andrea!!
Eric Soderin Runs 3:08:01 For a PR!! and a BQ!! I saved the best story for last today. Eric's training over the last month and a half has been far from perfect. He was out on a easy run enjoying the beautiful sunset when BOP! he rolled his ankle...not just your normal roll...he messed that baby up! with missing some training and then fighting relentlessly to get that baby healed he somehow managed to make it to the start line this morning. Swollen sore ankle and all Eric Runs away with it and absolutely crushes the marathon!!!
I couldn't be more proud of all the efforts this weekend and with how amazing everyone's training is going. This is a tough time of year to stay motivated but Every single one of you are rocking and rolling with big things ahead for 2019!
I love reading about all these great races. Way to go everyone!
HOLY SMOKES MDRC LIT IT UP THIS WEEKEND!!
Megan Reed @mreed0712 is on FIRE!! She absolutely CRUSHED it at The Texas Trail running Championships (Race the circus 12 hour solo race) The plan was to go for the course record of 63 miles. If any of you have time go online and look at the pictures of how muddy it was! So of course the game plan changed a little because of conditions. That Doesn't stop Megan from winning OVERALL!!!!! and running a total of 57 miles with 5 minutes to still spare!
Lauren Daniels (my superwoman wife) and I went out to Scottsdale Arizona this weekend for her to run the Scottsdale Half Marathon. Lauren was able to PR by over 1 min and run 78:17!! I knew she was in shape but to do this in the middle of a SUPER hard marathon training cycle???? I could not be more proud!
Sam Cotton @Sam PR's AGAIN...but twice in one RACE!! Sam Switched it up this weekend and raced on the roads running the Dallas Marathon. Crushing it in 3:57! and Running a personal best through the Half marathon!! That is fitness at it's best. The crazy part is...She was sick all last week! I'm blown away...We have some tough superwomen on our team!
Whitney Heavner @whitney.heavner Does the unthinkable and Bounces Back after an incredible performance at CIM last week and Races Club XC Nationals in Spokane, Washington having an AWESOME race and competing with all the speedy track and cross country women! on Dead, tired, and sore legs Whitney was able to place and run about what she ran there last year fresh as a daisy!! HUGE progress and I'm still at a loss for words how anyone can race back to back like that after running such a huge PR just a week before in the marathon!
Sally Miller @smiller6run Closes out an INCREDIBLE 2018 with racing the Bigfoot 20 miler trail race. This course is brutal and she showed her unreal Grit and toughness with an amazing finish!!! Turns out the course was a mile long too! I'm so proud of the incredible year Sally has had from racing 100k to even CRUSHING the Half marathon this year!! Watch out 2019 because I have a feeling Sally is going to continue to leave her mark!
SO proud of everyone!!
Jordan Broghammer Put a BANG into a pretty quite weekend of no races. Jordan had hopes of running a 100 miler this year but with his schedule not allowing he decided to do the 48 hour 100 mile treadmill challenge.....yes 100 miles on a treadmill!!!! Jordan rocked it in 29 hours fulfilling his goal this year of running 100 miles! congrats!!

@Angie Woolman continues to AMAZE!! she ran the New Year's One day 6hr event and finished with 35 miles!!
RACE RESULTS!!
The weekend Started out with @benjamin.willis running the San Diego 50. Ben was set to run TNF 50 back in November, but with that being cancelled we looked ahead to this being a key race. His training block for this couldn't have done any better!! And boy did it show! Ben placed 10th overall in 8:03!!
Next up Was Chad Bruce! Chad ran the Avalon 50. After a rough week of being sick I was a little concerned with how it was going to go for chad but, he Followed orders..negative split like a BOSS (so hard to do in a 50 miler) and Came away with an AWESOME time of 8:29 on a mud soaked course!!
Steve Brown Ran A local race (The Night trail Half Marathon). With 6 inches of snow!!...Doesnt matter though because he was able to plow on through and place 3rd overalll in 1:46!!..in 6 inches of snow...Big things to come from Steve!
David Lam Ran the very unforgiving Hot Chocolate 15k in San Francisco. Don't let the name of this race fool you. the second half is gnarly. After a blazing first half David was able to hold on for an Amazing time of 1:04..While in the middle of Ultra training!!
Some awesome results folks! Especially impressed with the 50 mile results. #goals
OH MY WHAT A WEEKEND!!!**Race Results**
My superwife @laurenl.realestate and I went down to Houston with 1 goal for her to qualify for the Olympic trials. Mission Accomplished with a 2:43 marathon and a two minute pr!!!! So proud of her and all the work she put in this year. For anyone thats on the struggle bus right now here is a little bit of motivation. 1 year ago Lauren could hardly run a few miles after nearly 3 years off from running. She stayed consistent and positive through this year and the outcome was mind blowing! So much greatness can happen with a positive mindset and patience to reach your goals.
@Jeremy Rampon Just did the unthinkable and Raced TWO half marathons this weekend. One on Saturday and one on Sunday...(great training for Black canyons coming up). On Saturday he ran the NJ trail half marathon series finishing 7th in 1:49! Sunday morning he returns race ready and run the Fred lebow Half on the roads finishing in 1:30!! Such good training and I have no doubts he will be ready to rock in his 100k in a few weeks!
Beau Atwater Also ran in the Fred Lebow Half finishing in 1:29!! What makes Beau's performance so impressive is at 60 years old he is able to train through this race in prep for bigger things to come. On tired legs he was able to run an awesome race and pick right back up on training with the mindset that BIG things are ahead for him this spring and summer!
Jennifer Brackett Raced a 50k in Woodside California! With the Heavens DUMPING rain she swam to a 6:14 finishing time!! 40 min slower than her personal best goes to show you how incredibly slow of a day it was for everyone! I am so excited to watch her improve and crush the big big race schedule she has set for this summer!!
Satwick Ranjani Helped Pace his gf at the Mumbai Half marathon. Even though this wasnt a "race" for Satwik I wanted to post this to show what MDRC is all about and thats unconditional support for others! Big things coming from Satwik!
@jason.nicolai Raced a 5k and 10k this weekend in arctic conditions. Lots of snow and wind. He PRed in both distances!!!! Congrats Jason!
I cant imagine what these race reports are going to look like this spring and summer! Great work everyone!

Martin Malherbe Got the weekend started with a 3:17 marathon which was right at his PR! He did it the best way and negative split!! I just started working with Martin and am SO SO thrilled to see how he progresses over the coming months!
Once again @mreed0712 tore up the Texas trails at the Run the Rose 11 miler. SHE WINS AGAIN!!!!! In what looked like an awesome close sprint finish. Just another step in the right direction for her upcoming 100!
@Felix jumped WAY down in distance this weekend to run a XC 10k finishing in 41 minutes! I'm super impressed with this race considering this has been a chill off season for him! Felix is setting himself up well for a HUGE summer in the mountains.
The weekend ended with @matthew running The North Face Thailand 75k!! Matthew Finished 11th OA and 9th in AG!! This race is brutal, the course is either going up or going down the whole way. I am so stoked to see how far Matthew has come and even more stoked to see how well he does with the jump up to the 100k soon!!
I am so proud of everyone with there training and racing! Keep up the killer work!
