Personal Running Coaching

The Matt Daniels Run Club (MDRC) is an eclectic team of badass road and trail athletes headed up by accomplished runner of all distances and terrain, Matt Daniels. Known for his ability to excel at every distance from 1 to 100 miles, Matt is a seasoned coach who works closely with each athlete to develop a training plan personalized to their individual goals. You can trust Matt to take you where you want to go.

MEET THE COACH

Matt grew up in Arlington, TX and began running at the age of 11. He quickly made it to the top state rankings in high school and found his interest in leading athletes. While learning everything he could about coaching, he made a brave decision to join the U.S. Navy and serve his country. He spent three years stationed in Japan and out at sea before returning to the U.S. where he was accepted to a DII running powerhouse, Adams State University. While attending Adams State, Matt got first hand experience from one of the most successful college coaches in the world Damon Martin. Under his tutelage, Matt went on to run a sub 4 min mile, leading to 6 National Championship teams and earning himself 12 All American Honors.

Upon graduating and his new found love of the mountains, he signed with Hudson Elite and moved to Boulder, Colorado. There he focused on the road and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials. With an unfortunate result, he realized he belonged on the trails and competed in the USA Mountain Running Championships. There he shined and qualified for the USA World Team. Since then, he has made 3 consecutive World Teams and is now sponsored by Nike.

After traveling and racing on the best trails and mountains the world had to offer, he finally decided it was time to coach. The feeling of being surrounded by positivity and success while doing something he loved was like nothing imaginable. Because of this he wanted to give back and allow every runner to be able to experience a similar feeling, thus starting Matt Daniels Run Club. He’s had the fortune of learning from so many of history's greatest coaches, he is lucky enough to apply all of their methods and philosophies together to form an outstanding running and life program for everyone from elites to people who just want to better themselves.

Matt started coaching me in July of 2018 and within the first month I won the Howl at the Moon 8 hour run. A month later, I ran my second 100 miler at the Idaho Mountain Trail Ultra Festival.
